Taylar placing acupuncture needles in a patient’s back in a sunlit treatment room

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is at the heart of our practice. We take time to understand what brings you in, how you’ve been feeling, and what you hope to change. Your practitioner carefully selects acupuncture points to suit your treatment needs, your body’s constitution, and how your energy is presenting that day. Each session is tailored to you, with adjustments as your needs evolve.

How acupuncture works

Applying acupuncture needles to specific points stimulates blood flow and activates neuro-hormonal pathways. This will reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, reduce pain, and promote healing of the surrounding tissue. As a result, acupuncture can be used to heal muscle/tendon injuries and improve the function of weakened systems such as reproductive, digestive, respiratory, and cardiovascular.

Acupuncture treatment also activates the parasympathetic nervous system (in charge of rest and digest). This promotes a relaxed euphoric state and reduces the negative effects of stress. Activating the parasympathetic nervous system helps balance hormones, improve digestion, improve sleep, regulate the immune system, relax tight muscles, and allow healing to occur.

Bodywork

Bodywork may include massage, cupping, guasha, and moxibustion. Your practitioner selects techniques around your symptoms to use alongside acupuncture. The goals of bodywork are to ease muscular discomfort, reduce the feeling of tightness, and help movement feel more comfortable.

Modalities we often use

Cupping

Cups placed on the skin create suction that gently lifts the tissue beneath them. It can feel like a pulling sensation over tight muscles. Cupping may help ease pain, bringing a welcome sense of relief to sore, tense areas.

Guasha

Your practitioner applies oil and uses a smooth-edged tool in repeated strokes over areas such as the back, neck, or shoulders. Guasha may help ease neck pain and make movement feel more comfortable, helping you turn and stretch with greater ease.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion uses dried mugwort, called moxa, as a source of warmth around selected acupuncture points. Its soothing warmth is traditionally used to encourage circulation and bring comfort to areas that feel cold, stiff, or achy.

Pelvic Floor Dry Needling

Pelvic floor dry needling uses sterile, hair-thin needles to address muscular tension, trigger points, and myofascial restrictions in the pelvic region and surrounding musculature.

Treatment is always individualized. Depending on your symptoms and goals, we may work with the external pelvic floor, hips, glutes, abdomen, low back, or other structures that influence pelvic function.

All pelvic floor dry needling is performed externally. No internal pelvic floor examinations or internal needling techniques.

Microneedling

Microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation. These very fine needles create tiny punctures in the skin to help stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture and reduce wrinkles, acne scars and hyperpigmentation. It can also be known as collagen induction therapy.

During microneedling, needles will go to a depth of about 0.25mm to 1.5mm depending on the patient. It’s important to do this treatment with a trained professional to ensure proper technique, use of sterile equipment, and the ability to adjust the treatment according to individual skin type and concerns.

We recommend sessions once per month for an optimal glow.

What your treatment entails

Prepare
We assess your skin and apply numbing cream to help ease discomfort during treatment.

Rest under red light
Next, rest under the Celluma Pro for 25 minutes of Red Light Therapy. This gives the numbing cream time to take effect while you receive the benefits of red light.

Microneedling & serum
Your practitioner uses sterile equipment and tailors the needling to your skin type and concerns. Our treatment includes a stem cell-infused hyaluronic acid serum, selected to complement the session.

Benefits of Microneedling

Improved Skin Texture & Tone
Microneedling encourages skin renewal and may help smooth uneven texture and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Reduced Acne Scars
Collagen remodeling may help soften the appearance of acne scars and improve uneven skin. Results develop gradually and vary by scar type.

A Brighter, More Even Complexion
Microneedling may help with some forms of uneven pigmentation. Your practitioner will assess your skin and dark spots to determine whether treatment is appropriate.

Increased Collagen Production
The skin’s repair response stimulates collagen production, which may improve firmness and elasticity over a series of treatments.

Skincare After Treatment
Microneedling temporarily changes the skin barrier, so product choice matters. Follow your practitioner’s aftercare plan and guidance on when to resume your usual skincare products.
