Her path to Traditional Chinese Medicine began through a health journey of her own. While completing her undergraduate studies, she was navigating her own health journey and often felt disheartened, lonely, and uncertain as she searched for answers. During her final year at San Francisco State University, she was introduced to acupuncture while organizing a holistic health event for students during finals week. Through her own healing journey, she developed a therapeutic relationship with an acupuncturist who helped her feel truly seen, heard, and validated. That experience revealed the profound impact of compassionate care and inspired her to pursue a career in Chinese medicine.
Today, Dr. Willigrod strives to create that same experience for her patients. She takes the time to listen deeply to each person’s unique story and develops individualized treatment plans that address both immediate concerns and underlying patterns of imbalance. She is dedicated to fostering a warm, nurturing environment where patients feel supported, empowered, and understood throughout their healing journey.
With empathy and compassion, Dr. Willigrod serves as a witness, mirror, and guide in her patients’ healing journeys. Her goal is to help patients cultivate peace, resilience, and harmony within the circumstances of their lives. By blending the wisdom of Eastern medicine with modern Western understanding, she supports patients in reconnecting with their body’s innate capacity for healing and wellbeing.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Willigrod feels most at home in nature. She enjoys surfing, hiking and trail running with her dog, tending her garden, playing soccer, reading, and sewing and knitting. These practices help her stay grounded, connected, and active, and continually remind her of the importance of health as a foundation for living a full and meaningful life. She believes that health is not simply the absence of disease, but a form of freedom that allows us to connect more deeply with ourselves, our communities, and the activities that bring us joy.
HER PATIENTS SAY
Dr. Willigrod really knows her stuff! She is a highly talented and caring practitioner who always meets her patients where they are. After initially seeing her for back pain, she has become my go-to person for any imbalances that I am feeling in my body. From headaches and sleep issues to muscle pain and injury recovery, she uses her extensive knowledge of anatomy paired with a deep understanding of traditional acupuncture to treat intentionally with compassion and care. On top of her knowledge and expertise, she creates a very inviting and calming atmosphere that has allowed me to relax and drop into my treatments with ease. I could not recommend Dr. Willigrod more as a practitioner!
I went to Taylar for hip and glute pain (leftover from an old injury and pregnancy). In my first treatment I felt relief from the pain and tightness and every subsequent treatment has helped it stay away for longer durations. I feel like Taylar has x-Ray vision and can see how an injury is affecting my entire body- she knows exactly where to place needles.
Originally, I came to see Dr. Willigrod for back pain and was totally skeptical/nervous about acupuncture. The very first visit she was so gentle, warm and informative. I kept coming back as I felt so relaxed after the first visit and started experiencing great relief in my back pain. Then, I started to notice that my menstrual cycle started becoming less painful and more regular! I used to spot for almost a week before actually starting my period with heavy awful cramps and now I no longer spot and the cramps are way more manageable. Acupuncture has become a staple in my self care routine! Dr. Willigrod has such a calming presence and therapeutic touch. She is very knowledgeable and I feel like she knows how to treat whatever I come in with that day.
